TFCU History
1935 – 60’s
- Two employees began in an office housed under a stairwell at Oscar Mayer
- Grover Miller managed from 1950’s to 1970’s.
- Perry branch was established in 1963 in the Perry Oscar Mayer plant
70’s
- Ray Laures – President from 1970’s to 1999
- In 1976, Share Draft accounts were offered
- The “Kirby Kangaroo Club” was developed. It is an existing club for kids up to age 12
- 1977 – The current Rockingham office was built at 1400 Rockingham Road which enabled us to serve the OM employee family members
80’s
- 1980 – Went to a “Community Charter” credit union – the first CU in Iowa to do so
- 1982 – Name change to “The Family Credit Union”
- A Sherman, TX branch was opened as a part of Oscar Mayer
- 1985 – Merged with Bettendorf Community Credit Union, Blackhawk Foundry, and Brammer credit unions
2000’s
- 2000 – New President/CEO Sandra Sheffey
- 2002 – Northwest Davenport office was built
- 2002 – Merged with the Alliance Credit Union
- 2006 – Opened newly constructed office in Muscatine
- Spring of 2008 – Re-located Bettendorf office – new construction
- August 2008 – Merged with the Davenport Fire Department Credit Union
- November 2008 – Opened the seventh branch office and first in Illinois – Silvis
- March 2010 – Achieved $100 million in assets
- January 1, 2013 – Merger completed with the Great River Road Credit Union, Buffalo
- March 1, 2013 – Merger completed with the Von Maur Employees Credit Union, Davenport
- November 4, 2013 – The first TFCU teller-less branch opens
- February 4, 2014 – Cargill Beardstown, IL branch opens
- October 2015 – Dave Hulsbrink takes over the President/CEO seat for retired Mrs. Sheffey
- November 2016 – New website launched
- December 2020: Reached $200 million + in assets
- Omaha Branch opens April 3, 2023
- Davenport Police CU merges, May, 2023
