College Scholarship Opportunities

The Family Credit Union is proud to offer scholarships to help students in the Quad Cities, Perry, Muscatine and Beardstown Areas continue their education and to better themselves.

 

Keith Ruefer Memorial Scholarship

The Keith Ruefer Memorial Scholarship is given to one credit union member or family member entering or attending the University of Iowa. The yearly deadline is April and the gift is paid in July. Submit the application via email or to any Family Credit Union office.

Kevin Post Memorial Scholarship

The Kevin Post Memorial Scholarship is given to one credit union member or family member entering or attending an accredited University or College. The yearly deadline is April and the gift is paid in July. Submit the application via email or to any Family Credit Union office.

Family Hispanic Scholarship

The Family Hispanic Scholarship is given to one credit union member or family member of Hispanic heritage entering or attending an accredited University or College. The yearly deadline is April and the gift is paid in July. Submit the application via email or to any Family Credit Union office.

The awards of these scholarships are based on:

  • Academics
  • Extracurricular Activities

Warren A. Morrow Scholarship

Deadline to apply is February 2, 2024

The Iowa Credit Union Foundation (ICUF) scholarship program provides 12 possible scholarships to young adults and non-traditional students to further their education. Scholarships totaling $23,000 will be awarded to high school seniors and graduates. The annual scholarship program honors the late Warren Morrow. Warren was the founder of Coopera and a visionary in the credit union industry who dedicated his life and career to helping the underserved.

There are two different scholarship categories:

  • High School Scholarship – Designated for high school seniors planning to enter college in 2024
  • Post-High School Scholarship – Designated for individuals entering or attending an accredited undergraduate, graduate or vocational program

This scholarship is essay based, and requires applicants to answer the following prompt:

As cooperative community organizations, one of the principles at the heart of the credit union movement is concern for community. What does community mean to you? How have you served your community, and how do you see your credit union working in your community? Consider sharing personal examples and experiences.

The essay must be the original work of the applicant and accepted . Judging will be based on originality, clarity, meaningful content, accurate presentation of facts, adherence to contest rules, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
